Extended Information/Photos: Located in the heart of the Lower East Side of New York City, Mercy House ministers to the poor and homeless. The monastery has facilities to provide a bed, clothes, and meals, in a substance abuse-free environment, for up to 10 men who are in alcohol/drug abuse recovery or just in need of a temporary living situation until they "get on their feet". Enrollment in a recovery program and abstaining from drugs and alcohol is a requirement for those in temporary residence. Mercy House also provides food and clothes distribution.
