Details

Curtea de Arges Monastery has been established in the 15th century during the reign of Neagoe Basarab. The fresco has been made by the artist Dobromir in 1526 during the reign of Radu of Afumati. The Monastery has suffered severe fires and earthquakes in 1802, 1838 and 1867 but has been repeatedly restored to a condition closed to the original one.

The Monastery shelters the tombs of Neagoe Basarab, Radu de Afumati, Prince Carol I, Prince Ferdinand, Princess Elisabeth and Princess Mary.
The holy relics of St. Filofteia have also been sheltered for eternity in the Monastery.

The Monastery is for monks and features guest facilities and also a museum.
