Extended Information/Photos: Monastery of Preveli is located at the south of Prefecture of Rethymnon and it is the most sacred part of the Holy Diocese of Lambis and Sfakion, in whose the spiritual jurisdiction belongs.The Preveli Monastery and its dependencies cover a large estate land of the Phoenix Municipality towards the Libyan sea and along the Great River (Megalos Potamos), which ends at this point. The monastery houses a relics museum.
The Monastery is looking after and shelters people, individuals or groups, who are looking for a secure hideout and /or a launching point to the unconquered mountains of southern Crete.

Extended Information/Photos: The monastery Arsani lies ca. 11 km east of Rethymnon on the road to Pangalohori. Its museum exhibits icons from churches of Rethymno prefecture, some of them belonging to the "Cretan School". In the small museum valuables from older and recent history of the monastery can be seen.

8. Tzagaroli (Agia Triada) Monastery

Extended Information/Photos: In a distance of 15 km away from Chania is the monastery of the Holy Trinity Tsagarolon (Agia Triada) , built in 1612 by Laurentius and Jeremiah, progeny of a Venetian family who embraced the Orthodoxy. The Monastery owns olive-presses, stables, wine-presses and wine cellars; it has a museum and receives many visitors.

9. Chrisoscalitissa  Monastery
